We always question whether or not a child is yet ready for potty training. Of course the child needs to be ready to make the nappy to pants transition a success, but they are not the only ones who must be ready to make the move. There is another crucial element needed in this puzzle to make the potty training mission a success.
Without Mummy & Daddy on board this is never going to work….
Half-hearted approaches to potty training are rarely successful; embracing it wholeheartedly conveys positive and consistent messages to children and is far more likely to produce results.
So before you begin, check your diary and ensure you have a few fairly clear weeks ahead. If you are about to head off on hols, have the kitchen refitted, have a hectic work deadline looming, or if it’s half term fun time with an older sibling then this is not the right time for you. Wait for a few weeks until you are able to truly dedicate time and positivity to your little one and support them in this important step in their life. This doesn’t mean you have to become a hermit or feel socially isolated until the task at hand is complete, but it truly will make it easier and less stressful for both you and your child.
